A reference book or website gives you information about a topic.  Reference tools include encyclopaedias, atlases and dictionaries.  They are good for giving you background information or specific information on a topic.

 

Keep track of your information sources by writing:

  • the title of the website

  • the author

  • the website URL

Word Central is a dictionary, thesaurus and rhyming dictionary for children.  It will help you find:

  • The meaning of words

  • Words that mean almost the same

  • Rhyming words

 

  1. Click on image to get to the website

  2. Click on Dictionary, Thesaurus or Rhyming at the top

  3. Type in your word

  4. Click

  5. In the text box click on the type of word you need: verb, adjective, noun

  6. Click on this icon to hear the word
